Established in 1990, the Navajo AIDS Network, Inc. (NAN) serves as a NMAETC Regional Performance Site and provides capacity building services geared toward Native American serving healthcare providers. As one of New Mexico’s and Arizona’s premier volunteer organizations in the area of HIV related services, NAN provides unique, culturally appropriate and carefully constructed approaches to HIV prevention services and continues to be at the forefront of HIV care and services for HIV-positive Native Americans in and around the Navajo Nation. Its entire staff is Navajo, and most have a keen insight of Navajo traditions and values. The combination of cultural competence and HIV expertise represented by NAN's staff is crucial to successfully delivering training and education to Native American serving providers as well as comprehensive interventions within Native American communities.
